@ James
I would suggest finding out the source of your over heating problems and then maybe looking to repair that if possible. The laptop should not be getting hot when it is unplugged.

Hi, I've just upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 because there was a lot of hype about the power management features found in the new OS. Unfortunately, this doesn't seemed to have helped much. My laptop is still getting pretty hot even when not plugged in. I don't really want to buy a cooling pad as I travel with my computer a lot. Any ideas?
